Local snapshots and purgeable storage can delay the number. Disk Orc shows the evidence it can find and says when macOS gives no clear answer.

What exactly is a patrol?

You can inspect every suggestion in Finder. Moving anything to Trash takes a separate confirmation.

What if a patrol is interrupted?
